Lappenküper and U20 German Team Win FIBA European Title

EILAT, Israel - Fort Wayne women's basketball rising sophomore Anna Lappenküper helped lead her U20 German National team to the FIBA U20 Women's European Championship, Division B title with a 60-54 win over Slovakia in the championship. The 12-team tournament ran from July 8-16.
"It has been a great opportunity to represent my home country this summer and I'm really proud of my team," Lappenküper said. "We played extremely well together and I'm glad that we were able to reward our hard work with winning the championship."
Lappenküper started six of the seven games as the team went 6-1 during the tournament, including 4-1 in pool play. The Germans defeated Croatia 70-52 in the semi-finals, before avenging an earlier loss to Slovakia in the finals. In the title game, Lappenküper finished with five points, three rebounds and two steals.
For the tournament, Lappenküper averaged 4.1 points, 2.0 assists and 1.9 steals a game.
