
Mastodons Tied For First In Fall Summit League Men’s Commissioner's Cup Standings

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League released the 2018-19 Commissioner's Cup Fall Standings on Wednesday (December 12) afternoon. The Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons are tied for first in the Dr. William Steinbrecher Men's All-Sport Award Standings.
Thanks to a third place finish from men's soccer and fourth place from men's cross country, the Mastodons earned seven points to tie South Dakota State.
The men's soccer season was highlighted by a Division I era program-best 10 victories. Forward Blake Cearns and midfielder Matthew Lieshout were named to the All-Summit League First Team. Midfielder Zach Tom and defender Adam Gannon were picked to the Second Team. Cearns and goalkeeper Tor Erik Larsen earned nods on the All-Newcomer Team. Romain Lopez and Gannon were named Academic All-League. On the men's cross country side, Logan Kitchen picked up All-Summit League Second Team honors for a second consecutive season after finishing 13th overall. Kitchen was also named Academic All-League.
The overall standings have the Mastodons in sixth. On the women's side, the 'Dons are ranked seventh. Highlighted by a Summit League individual title by Emma Rafuse at the Cross Country Championship and semifinal finish for women's volleyball at the league tournament. Nicole Rightnowar and Sydney Boerst were named to the All-League team for women's volleyball, while Madelyn Wurster was named to the All-Freshman team. Madison Jaqua and Elizabeth Britner picked up Academic All-League honors. The women's soccer program saw Kayla Wisniewski named to the Summit League All-Freshman squad and Lindsay Yankasky named Academic All-League.
