Women's Soccer Signs Eight on Signing Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer head coach Jason Burr announced the signing of eight student-athletes for the 2020 season: Faith Montandon, Rylee Vruggink, Olivia Sloffer, Elizabeth Haub, Zoe Greenhalge, Allison Adams, Grace Anderson and Alyssa Weisbrodt.
Montandon (Forward - 5-9 - Chesterfield, Mo./Incarnate Word Academy - JB Marine Elite) joins the Mastodons after competing with the Red Knights of Incarnate Word Academy. She earned First Team All-Conference honors for the 2019 season, as well as Second Team All-Conference in 2018. When Montandon was with JB Marine Elite, she helped lead her team to a Missour Cup Championship in 2016. While at Incarnate Word, Montandon was in the First Honors Program and also was in the Philanthropy Club and was a student ambassador.
Vruggink (Forward - 5-4 - Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian High School - Midwest United FC) comes to Purdue Fort Wayne after three years of varsity under head coach Randy Heethuis. She earned All-Conference honors for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. She was All-District in 2017, 2018 and 2019, Second Team All-State in 2018 and First Team All-State in 2019. Vruggink led the Crusaders to a regional title and three district titles. She recorded 45 assists and 30 goals in her career at Unity Christian. In the classroom, Vruggink held a 3.94 cumulative GPA and made the honor roll every semester. She played for the Michigan Fire Juniors from 2012 to 2015 and the Midwest United FC from then on. Her team, Midwest United FC, also competes in the US Youth Development Academy. Vruggink was given the opportunity to attend the Chicago Fire Elite ID Camp and from there, made the Chicago Fire Juniors Elite team.
Sloffer (Goalkeeper - 5-7 - Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll High School - Fort Wayne Sport Club 02G/Fort Wayne Phoenix Futsal Club) joins the Purdue Fort Wayne squad after playing three years of varsity soccer under Rick Smith at Carroll High School. She led the Chargers to four sectional titles and one regional title in 2016. She was selected for First Team All-District and was captain in 2019. Sloffer earned First Team Academic All-State in 2018 and 2019. While at Carroll, Sloffer was in the National Honor Society, earned honors with distinction and will receive the Academic Honors Diploma. Away from Carroll she played for the Fort Wayne Sport Club 02G (2012-2019) and the Fort Wayne Phoenix Futsal Club (2015-2019). She was also a member of the United States Youth Futsal National Team in 2017, 2018 and 2019 where she helped her team to a national title in 2019. During her time with the USYF team, Sloffer led her team to the Midwest Regional championship (2017 and 2019), Midwest Regional title (2018), national finalist (2018) and an Indiana President's Cup Championship (2019).
Haub (Midfielder/Defender - 5-3 - Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore High School - Sockers FC) comes to Purdue Fort Wayne after playing with the Sycamore Spartans for two years on varsity. She led her team to a regional title in 2018 and scored two goals in her career. She also played basketball from 2016-2017. Haub's club team, Sockers FC, competes in the US Youth Development Academy. In the classroom, she earned high honor Roll all four years and three academic varsity letters. Haub was also a member of Key Club, National Honor Society, Green Team and Big Sis/Lil Sis.
Greenhalge (Midfield - 5-6 - South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon East High School - Michigan Jaguars) joins the Mastodons after competing with the South Lyon Cougars under head coach Shawn Darnell. She earned All-District First Team and All-Conference in 2017. During club season, she helped lead her team to a national title in 2018 and won 2017 and 2019 state titles. Off the field, Greenhalge earned a spot on the Principal's List, earned honor roll and an academic letter, and was a member of Student Council. Greenhalge also had relatives play for the men's soccer teams at Saginaw Valley State and Dubuque.
Adams (Defender - 5-6 - Plainfield, Ill./Oswego East High School - Campton United) joins the 'Dons from Oswego East High School under head coaches Juan Leal and Sean Kelleher. She earned All-Conference honors and was named to the All-Sectional team in 2018 and 2019, Record/Ledger and Beacon News All-Area team in 2019. She was a 2018 All-Area Team Honorable Mention and was named Oswego East Defender of the Year in 2018 and 2019. She also helped lead the Naperville Soccer Association to state and regional titles in 2016. In 2019, Adams was a member of the Campton United club team and earned the Illinois State Cup title. Adams took part in Key Club International and Freshman Seminar Mentors programs at Oswego East. Away from soccer, she was a four-year member of the honor roll and an AP Scholar, as well as a member of the History Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. In the 2018-2019 academic year, Adams acquired a 4.57 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Anderson (Forward - 5-1 - Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central High School - Crystal Lake Force) joins Purdue Fort Wayne after playing on varsity for three years at Crystal Lake Central under Sarah Fack. Anderson helped lead the Tigers to a regional and sectional title in 2019. It was the first time in program history that women's soccer went to the sectional. Anderson also competed with the Force club team, leading them to a President's Cup title.
Weisbrodt (Midfielder - 5-7 - Loveland, Ohio/Little Miami High School - Total Futbol Academy) joins the Mastodons after playing on varsity for four years at Little Miami under Kim Koterba. During her time with the Panthers, she helped lead her team to four conference titles and was a 2017 All-Conference Honorable Mention, 2018 First Team All-Conference selection, 2019 First Team All-Conference honoree, and First Team All-Southwest Ohio selection. She scored 36 goals and 33 assists throughout her career. Outside of soccer, Weisbrodt was a member of the Engineering Club, National Honor Society and Student-Athlete Leadership Team. She has been on the honor roll all four years and will graduate from Little Miami with honors.
"We can't wait to have the 2020 incoming class on campus next fall," Burr said. "This group of players will bring so much experience and versatility to our program. I am extremely happy we are able to continue having success bringing players in from areas that we have traditionally had success in like Chicagoland, across Michigan, Ohio, and of course from right here in the Summit City. They will continue to each help enhance each position on the field next year and we are so excited to see their impact as we move into the Horizon League in 2020."
Purdue Fort Wayne will begin the 2020 regular season in mid-August.
