
Five Women's Basketball Student-Athletes Sign to Purdue Fort Wayne

"This signing class will definitely help raise our level in the Horizon League," Nelson said. "We added size, scoring and defense. These five players have strong work ethics and will positively impact our team and family culture."
Ott, a 5-foot-10 guard, will join her sister Riley on the Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball team in 2021. She will graduate after playing four seasons for La Porte High School. As a junior, she averaged 13.3 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game while shooting 36 percent from the 3-point line. Ott was named the team MVP in both her sophomore and junior seasons, as well as being named to the All-State team by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) in 2019 and 2020. The two-time Duneland Athletic Conference performer was also named as a top-100 player in the state of Indiana three times. Ott led La Porte High School to a conference championship in 2018 and a sectional title in 2020. She played club ball with Always 100 Wright 2021 from 2016-20. After being named the Freshman Student of the Year, she earned an invitation to the National Honor Society and a place on the Principal's Honor Roll.
Bromenschenkel is a 5-foot-11 shooter who has 1,752 career points going into her senior season. She is currently second on the all-time scoring list at Mendota Township High School, just 350 points away from the leader. She already holds the school career records in rebounds with 851 and steals with 291. In her junior season, she set the single-season scoring record (832), rebounds record (393), and steals record (130). After averaging 25.7 points per game, Bromenschenkel was an All-State First Team selection by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, Prep Girls Hoops and Illinois News Gazette. The unanimous Big Northern All-Conference selection led the league in points, rebounds and steals in 2019-20. Bromenschenkel was named to the All-State second team as a sophomore and was Honorable Mention All-State as a freshman. Bromenschenkel played club hoops for Illinois Valley Warriors in 2017-19 and the Illinois Elite in 2020. She led the Warriors to the Nike Cup title and four tournament championships in 2019. The basketball signee also played volleyball and soccer for the Trojans, and was named to the All-Conference team for volleyball. In the classroom, Bromenschenkel has a 4.0 GPA, earning High Honors every semester. She is also involved with the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. She comes from a basketball family, as her twin sisters both played at Rose Hulman, earning berths to the NCAA Division III Tournament three times. Bromenschenkel will graduate in December and join the Mastodons as a mid-year enrollee. She will be immediately eligible to play in the Mastodons' first season in the Horizon League.
Linbo is a versatile 6-foot-2 forward from Grant Community High School in Illinois. As a junior, Linbo averaged 14.8 points per game, 9.2 rebounds per game, and 2.7 blocks per game. She was recognized on the All-Area team, Northern Lake County All-Conference teams, and was an All-State selection in 2019. Linbo also earned recognition on four all-tournament teams. Linbo played for Illinois Elite from 2018-20. After earning a place on the Honor Roll, Linbo was named to the Northern Lake County All-Academic Team and is a member of the National Honor Society. She is a three-sport letter winner as she also plays volleyball and softball.Emmerson is a 5-foot-7 guard that led Fishers to a sectional title in 2020. Her performance in her junior season garnered her a spot on the All-County team. Emmerson played AAU for Indiana Elite. With Elite Prime, she was a runner up at the 2019 Adidas National Championship. In addition to her success on the court, Emmerson was selected to the National Honor Society, and earned a place on the Summa Cum Laude four times. She was also involved in the orchestra and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization.
Stephens is a 5-foot-11 forward who averaged 14.0 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per game as junior. Her first three seasons were played at Lake High School where she recorded 620 points, 408 rebounds and 95 assists. Stephens was the team MVP and was named to the All-Federal League team. She received All-District honors while at Lake. During the summer, she played AAU ball with the Buckeye Blast. Stephens will be finishing out her high school career at Archbishop Hoban High School.
Bromenschenkel will join Purdue Fort Wayne in the spring of 2021 and will be available to compete this spring. The other four signees will join Purdue Fort Wayne for the 2021-22 season for the Mastodons' second year in the Horizon League.
