Four Mastodons Named to Purdue Fort Wayne Top 50 and Exemplar Students Lists

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The 2020 class of Purdue Fort Wayne's Top 50 and Exemplar students was announced this week and includes four Mastodon student-athletes. These individuals are engaged on the Purdue Fort Wayne campus in their academics, athletics and other co-curricular activities, they also make significant impacts in their own communities.
Top 50:
Sandra Hoevels, Senior, Women's Volleyball, Psychology
Emma Schroeder, Sophomore, Women's Golf, Communication Sciences and Disorders
Elana Kayser, Sophomore, Women's Track and Field, Psychology
Exemplar Students:
Anna Lappenküper, Senior, Women's Basketball, Business
Each year, the college and school deans, department chairs, and/or faculty select students to be Exemplars. These students must have completed an undergraduate degree in December, May, or summer of the current academic year; be on the graduation list; graduated with or be tentatively qualified to graduate with distinction; demonstrated excellence in their areas of study; and have a record of community outreach in their field.
"This is one of Purdue Fort Wayne's most important honors and I'm proud to have four student-athletes earn these recognitions," Purdue Fort Wayne Athletic Director Kelley Hartley Hutton said. "It is a testament to their dedication and commitment to our department's core values which center on academic excellence, social responsibility and competitive achievement. I commend them, along with our coaching staff and faculty's efforts, for supporting their pursuit of making a difference on campus and beyond."
