FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball head coach Maria Marchesano announced on Wednesday (Nov. 10) that two student-athletes have signed to join the Mastodons for the 2022-23 season: Lauryn Stover and Jaidyn Koerdt.
"We are very excited to add both Lauryn and Jaidyn to our Mastodon family!" Marchesano said.
Stover is a 5-foot-10 guard from Solon, Ohio and will graduate from Gilmour Academy in the spring of 2022. From her freshman to junior seasons, she increased her scoring average by 9.0 points per game, up to 13.5 as a junior. She also averaged 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game last season. In her freshman season, she was an All-Stars Honorable Mention and the Most Improved Player, before being named to the All-Stars Third Team the following year. As a junior, Stover was named to the Northeast Lakes All-District Second Team, All-Stars Second Team, and was an All-Ohio Honorable Mention. She was also the Lancers' team Offensive Player of the Year. Stover led her squad to a District Runner-Up finish in 2019 and 2021. She played club ball with Friends 4 Life for three years, All Ohio for one years, and 1Nation Elite for two years. With 1Nation Elite, Stover's team won its bracket in Dallas at the Super 64. In the classroom, Stover earned High Honors in each year. She was also selected as a member of the National Honor Society.
"Lauryn's length and versatility on defense along with her shooting ability from the outside were both huge emphases for us in the recruiting process," Marchesano said.
Koerdt, a 5-foot-11 guard from Providence, Arkansas, played for her father, Ryan, at Pulaski Academy. With one season yet to play for the Bruins, she has already eclipsed the 1,000-point threshold. She has averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game through three seasons. Koerdt, a two-time All-Conference selection, was a 5-A West All-State and All-State Tournament selection in her junior season. She was also selected as the Conference Underclassman of the Year as a junior and is the Preseason Player of the Year for her upcoming season. She scored a career-high 40 points and recorded a career-high eight steals in a game in 2019, then had a career-high 11 rebounds 25 days later. Koerdt led the Pulaski squad to a 21-13 record as a sophomore, then 19-9 as a junior, propelling the Bruins to a State Tournament Quarterfinal berth. The above-4.0 GPA student also played club basketball with the Oklahoma Shock 3SSB in 2020 and the Arkansas Select GUAA in 2021. She led the Arkansas Select squad to a top-five finish in Under Armour's circuit and top-25 in the nation. Koerdt is an All-A Honor Roll recipient and a member of the National Honor Society.
"Jaidyn's recruitment started late in the fall, but she stood out to us right away with her elite shot making ability," Marchesano said. "She has the ability to score at a number of levels and we are excited to see her develop our systems."
Stover and Koerdt will join the Mastodons in the summer of 2022 for the second year under head coach Marchesano.
