FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne concluded the 2022 season on Saturday (Nov. 12) with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-23) loss to Cleveland State.
The Mastodons celebrated Senior Night prior to the game with Rachael Crucis, Sidney Schiller, Madelyn Wurster and Alexandra Traciak honored prior to the match.
Crucis finished with a team-high 12 digs. Schiller added seven kills and nine digs. Traciak totaled four digs and an ace. Wurster recorded six kills.
However, it was a Mastodon returning in 2023 that had the best stat line of the night. Ramei Jackson hit .786 with 11 kills on 14 swings with no errors. It wasn't enough to keep up with the Vikings who out-hit the 'Dons .250 to .093.
Laken Voss had a match-high 14 kills for Cleveland State. The tightest set was the third when the 'Dons held a 22-19 lead late before the Vikings knotted it at 23. The Mastodons asked for time but a pair of kills by Liberty Torres ended the match.
Cleveland State improves to 13-16 (10-8 Horizon League) and avenges a loss to the Mastodons on their home court earlier this season. The 'Dons conclude the 2022 season 9-20 (5-13 Horizon League).
