17-Point Comeback Falls Just Short for Mastodon WBB

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball team erased a 17-point deficit in the final 14 minutes, but ultimately fell to Milwaukee 53-51 on Saturday (Feb. 26).
Saturday's game began by recognizing lone senior, Valerie Clark.
Purdue Fort Wayne had a 20-7 run in the fourth quarter, which saw Aubrey Stupp score seven points. This stretch featured a 3-pointer from Stupp immediately before drawing a charge. Shayla Sellers scored five points in the run.
Abbigail Stephens had the best game of her career, scoring 13 points adding three rebounds and two assists. Stephens got the shot to send the game to overtime in the post, but Milwaukee ultimately took the 2-point win.
Stupp finished with 10 points with five rebounds, four steals, and one assist. Stupp and Sellers finished with four steals each.
In the first quarter, Purdue Fort Wayne forced seven of Milwaukee's 22 turnovers.
The Mastodons fall to 9-20, 7-14 Horizon League while Milwaukee improves to 14-15, 13-9. The Mastodons will head to Robert Morris on Tuesday (March 1) for the opening round of the Keeps Horizon League Championship.
