INDIANAPOLIS - The Horizon League has announced the student-athletes who will participate on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for the 2022-23 academic year. Purdue Fort Wayne's Riley Ott and Bryce Martens will represent the Mastodons on the committee.
Each of the League's member institutions is represented by two student-athletes. Ott and Martens will both serve on the competition cabinet.
Horizon League SAAC participated in an in-person meeting in early June and will continue to meet over several videoconferences throughout the academic year. Additionally, SAAC members from five institutions will serve as Cabinet members in the Horizon League governance structure while two student-athletes will also represent the student-athlete voice and hold one vote on the League Council, alongside all 11 Athletics Directors, one Faculty Athletics Representative and one Senior Woman Administrator.
Wright State's Lainey Stephenson will continue to serve as the Horizon League representative on the Division I National SAAC. The Division I National SAAC is comprised of one member from each of the 32 Division I conferences. Their mission is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete well-being and fostering a positive student-athlete image. SAAC members comment and react to legislative proposals, issues of interest, and actions taken by their Division.
