Xavier Edges Purdue Fort Wayne

CINCINNATI – Rachael Crucis finished with 19 digs and no reception errors in Purdue Fort Wayne's 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-19) loss to Xavier on Saturday (Sept. 3) evening.
Crucis earned all-tournament team honors for her play in the three matches at Xavier.
The 'Dons were out-hit by Xavier .333 to .189. Sidney Schiller finished with 10 kills on 29 swings. Iris Riegel added nine kills.
Purdue Fort Wayne led set one 5-0 before Xavier responded with six straight points. The 'Dons had another lead in the second set, this one 14-11. Xavier responded again to go up 18-17. It was a 20-all score when Xavier finished the frame on a 5-0 run. The home squad took control of the third set with a 6-1 run early in the frame.
The 'Dons fall to 3-3. Xavier is now 5-1.
Purdue Fort Wayne is back in action Sept. 9 at Eastern Kentucky's tournament.
