Purdue Fort Wayne Women's Basketball Announces Foreign Tour to Italy

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball head coach Maria Marchesano announced on Wednesday (Oct. 31) that her program will be taking an international tour to Italy in the summer of 2024.
The Mastodons will visit Rome, Florence, Cinque Terre and Como over the nine-day trip from July 28-August 5. Highlights of the trip include stops at the Colosseum, Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel.
"We are very excited to finally announce the plans for our program's first foreign tour in the summer of 2024," Marchesano said. "The opportunity to see the world, experience other cultures, bond with teammates, and play basketball while we are at it, will be invaluable for our girls. We want to make sure that our girls are getting that experience."
While in Italy, the Mastodons will play a pair of games against local talent.
Fans will be able to follow along with the Mastodons in their journey through Italy on the team's social media channels on Facebook, X and Instagram.
The NCAA permits teams to take a foreign tour once every four years to allow student-athletes the opportunity to experience cultures abroad.
The tour also allows 10 extra practices to prepare for the event.
