MADISON, Wis. – Madison King became Purdue Fort Wayne's first All-Region runner since 2018 on Friday (Nov. 10) when she finished 21st overall and ran a time of 20:58.3 at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.
King was back in 96th place at the 2K mark, but by the time she reached 4K, she had made up 52 spots. When she crossed the finish line 2K later, King had made it all the way up to 21st overall. That finish is the best for the 'Dons since Emma Rafuse took seventh in 2018.
King is in contention for an individual selection to nationals depending on which teams earn at-large bids. King will find out her fate on Saturday.
Riley Tate was the next finisher for the 'Dons. She ran 22:29.5 and finished 115 overall. Ava Genovese was next at 164th with a time of 23:13.7. Lydia Carrell (23:49.3) took 186th and Haylee Hile (23:55.8) took 190th to round out the 'Dons' top five.
Mercedes Sarver (24:02.8) finished 195th and Faith Allen (25:05.1) finished 217th.
Purdue Fort Wayne scored 666 points to finish 24th as a team. Notre Dame was the overall winner with 39 points.
