
Colonials Take Four-Set Match From Mastodons

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - LonDynn Betts had 28 digs for the Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team in a 3-1 (25-18, 20-25, 25-20, 25-22) loss at Robert Morris on Friday night (Nov. 3)
Betts' 28 digs were the second-most of her career.
Jena Medearis had a nice match, finishing with 12 kills on .600 hitting, along with a career-high seven blocks and three digs.
Robert Morris took the opening set thanks to an 8-0 start that the Colonials were able to nurse the rest of the way. The 'Dons took momentum of a 7-2 run late in the first into the second. They did the same early in the second set to jump up 12-7. Despite RMU clawing back to within two, the Mastodons wrapped the set on a 4-1 run with kills from Medearis and Panna Ratkai.
The third set went to the home team as well thanks to a 6-0 run from the Colonials late.
RMU carried this into the start of the fourth, as the Colonials jumped out to a 10-1 lead. The Mastodons came storming back to get within one at 12-11, but RMU stretched it back out to a four-point set. The Mastodons eventually tied it up 19 after three points in a row, but the Colonials finished the match on a 4-1 run and capped it off with an ace.
Ratkai finished with 18 kills and 12 digs.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 9-17, 4-10 Horizon League. Robert Morris improves to 7-21, 4-14. The Mastodons will visit Youngstown State tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 4) for a 4 p.m. contest.
