ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's basketball team made 38-of-57 (66.7 percent) of their shots to defeat Oakland 98-77 on Saturday (Dec. 2), led by a season-high 20 points from Anthony Roberts.
The fifth-year guard made 8-of-10 from the floor, 2-of-2 from the 3-point line and 2-for-2 from the stripe. Jalen Jackson joined in on the hot shooting as he finished with 17 points and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the field along with five rebounds and five assists. The 'Dons compiled the third-best shooting percentage in their DI era and the second-best against a DI opponent. The Mastodons' 68.2 percent performance against Centenary on Feb. 18, 2003 is the only better performance against a DI foe in program history.
Quinton Morton-Robertson made a team-best five 3-pointers and Rasheed Bello added four of his own. As a team, Purdue Fort Wayne shot 17-of-26 from range (65.4 percent) which is the best ever percentage in Division I era program history when taking 20 or more attempts. The last time the 'Dons made 17 3-pointers against a DI foe was Jan. 3, 2019 vs. South Dakota State.
The Mastodons went 10-of-16 from three-point range in the first half while limiting Oakland to just one 3-pointer. The 'Dons led the entire half and by as much as 14. Morton-Robertson led the team with 14 points in the first 20 minutes.

Later in the game, Corey Hadnot II lobbed one up to Roberts who finished at the rim for the alley-oop. The bucket stretched the Purdue Fort Wayne lead to 30 with just under five minutes to play.
The Mastodons somehow got even hotter in the final 20 minutes, improving their shooting to 72.4 percent from the field and an even 70 percent from three in the second. Thanks to six second half slam dunks, 13-of-21 field goals in the second half were either a 3-pointer or a dunk.
Roberts' 20 points were a team-best, but Jackson and Morton-Robertson each added 17 and Bello scored 16 to total four Mastodons in double figures on Saturday.
The 'Dons had 24 assists, their most against a DI opponent since recording 24 at Eastern Illinois on Nov. 28, 2018.
