Mastodon Women's Golf Chasing Tournament Title and Medalist Honor at The Julie

BATAVIA, Ohio - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team is just three shots off the lead at Northern Kentucky's The Julie tournament after the opening round on Monday (March 25).
The Mastodons shot 306 as a team, just three shy of IUPUI's 303. NKU turned in a 304 and Green Bay was right behind the 'Dons with a 307.
Hunar Mittal was the Mastodons' best in round one, shooting 75 to finish the day in a tie for fourth. She turned in back-to-back birdies to wrap up the back nine on 17 and 18. She paired those birdies with 12 pars. The freshman is just two shots back of the lead. Adrienne Rohwedder was one shot behind Mittal after starting her round in the best way possible. She eagled the par-4 10th hole to start her round 2-under. From there, she birdied 14 and her finishing hole on the ninth. Rohwedder finished with a 76 and is in a tie for 12th.
Olivia Jang's round of 77 was highlighted by back-to-back birdies on holes five and six and four consecutive pars on the back nine. She signed a scorecard with 10 pars to pair with the two birdies. Anna Olafsdottir shot 78 to round out the team score, finding birdies on holes five, 11, 15 and 18. Jang and Olafsdottir are tied for 15th and 22nd, respectively.
Natalie Papa shot 81, but did not count for the team score. She had a birdie on hole five. Lillie Cone played as an individual and scored 86. She birdied hole eight.
The final round of The Julie will fire off on Tuesday morning (March 26).
