Hunar Mittal Shoots 75 for Second Place in Round One of Horizon League Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Freshman Hunar Mittal led Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf on day one of the Horizon League Championship on Saturday (April 20). She shot 75 (+2) and is in sole possession of second place.
Mittal's 2-over performance featured 16 pars and two bogeys. She bogeyed three and 11. She finished her round with seven pars in a row. Mittal is two shots back of Oakland's Bridget Boczar for the lead.
Fellow freshman Olivia Jang shot an 80, which tied with teammate Adrienne Rohwedder for 12th place. Jang's round was highlighted by a birdie on hole eight. She had six pars in her first seven holes before her birdie on eight. She also finished strong, turning in four pars in her last five holes, including all of the final three. This finishing stretch included reaching the front edge of the 477-yard 14th's green in two shots.
Rohwedder's 80 featured two birdies on holes seven and 11, the latter of which came thanks to a putt of healthy length.
Natalie Papa and Anna Olafsdottir shot 87 and 89, respectively. Papa had six pars and Olafsdottir had eight.
As a team, the Mastodons' 322 was good enough to tie for third with IUPUI and is just four shots behind Youngstown State.
The women have the earlier tee times of the round on Sunday (April 21). They will tee off starting at 8:20 a.m.
