Ava Genovese Named Women's #HLXC Runner of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS - Purdue Fort Wayne's Ava Genovese has been named the Horizon League Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week of the Week.
The junior from Coloma, Mich. opened the 2024 season with a personal best 6K at the 2024 Horizon League Championship course at Green Bay. Genovese placed fifth in the event, finishing with a time of 22:24:8 and aided the team to second place in the 3rd Annual Phoenix Open.
This is Genovese's first career award and the Mastodons' first in the 2024 season.
The Mastodons will run next at the Mastodon Alumni Open (Sept. 20) at 6 p.m., Purdue Fort Wayne's only home meet of the season.
