Purdue Fort Wayne Women's Basketball Ranked No. 18 in Mid-Major Top 25

BOSTON - For the first time in program history, the Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball team is ranked in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25. The Mastodons came in ranked No. 18 in the poll on Tuesday (Jan. 14).
Purdue Fort Wayne is the highest-ranked Horizon League program in the poll. Green Bay and Cleveland State took the Nos. 20 and 21 spots. The Mastodons have been receiving votes in the poll since November 12 this season, with a previously program-best 28 points last week.
The Mastodons are 13-5 this season and 8-0 in Horizon League play. The 'Dons have won their last 10 games, including their most recent 78-75 win at Cleveland State, which saw Lauren Ross hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 2.5 seconds to go. The Vikings were ranked No. 15 in the Mid-Major Top-25 last week. Purdue Fort Wayne is off to its best start as a Division I institution and its best league start in program history.
The Mastodons' 10-game winning streak is the eighth-longest active winning streak in the country, behind just LSU, UCLA, Ohio State, Grand Canyon, Southern Cal, Kansas State and South Carolina. Grand Canyon is ranked No. 7 in the Mid-Major Top-25 and the rest of the teams ahead of the 'Dons are ranked in the AP Top 25.
From a scoring perspective, Purdue Fort Wayne is led by Ross (17.1), Amellia Bromenschenkel (11.2) and Sydney Freeman (10.5) this season. The Mastodons are one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the nation, making 9.7 3-pointers per contest on a 36.9 percent clip.
Purdue Fort Wayne will play host to the Northern Kentucky Norse on Saturday (Jan. 18).
