FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball head coach Steve Florio announced the signing of Trinity Rye and Stephani Winzeler for the 2025 season.
Rye is a 5-foot-11 outside hitter from San Diego, California. As a senior, she recorded 575 kills and was selected to the First Team All-District and All-State teams. Rye played club volleyball for ECVBA (2018-21), Coast (2022-23), Wave (2023-24) and K2 (2024-25).
"We are thrilled to add Trinity to our roster," Florio said. "From the minute we started recruiting her, it was evident in all ways that she was going to be a great fit for our team. She has is an extremely well-rounded and dynamic player with a good jump and an elite arm. Since we aim to have a consistent back row attack as a part of our offense, her strong, six-rotation game also matches well with those plans. Along with her strong volleyball skill set, Trinity is bursting with energy, is highly competitive, and has a very fun personality. Further, her strong core values and fantastic academic record complement our fun, healthy, and hardworking team environment."
Winzeler is a 5-foot-8 libero/defensive specialist hailing from Toledo, Ohio. The four-year letterwinner at Whitmer High School racked up a school record 957 digs in her career, with a record 349 as a senior. She also added 117 career aces. Winzeler was named the team's MVP each of her last three seasons, earning All-Conference and All-District nods as a sophomore, junior and senior. She led the Panthers to a district runner-up finish in 2024. Winzeler played club volleyball for the Premier Academy, helping her teams to a national runner-up in 2024 and a Premier Division championship in 2025, among other high-level finishes.
"Stephani is a very steady serve receiver and defender," Florio said. "Her consistency in both areas makes her an easy add and will give us flexibility when needing additional help in the back row. Away from the court, Stephani is an excellent student and a fantastic teammate. She has very strong values and high character and is another great addition to our wonderful team culture. We are delighted to have Stephani joining our program."
Rye and Winzeler will join the Mastodons for the 2025 season along with fellow freshmen Lili Smith, Haiden Means and Bella DiBuono and Southern Illinois transfer Avery Parris.
