CINCINNATI - AJ Agnew won the first tournament of his career thanks to a career-low 204 at the Gateway Logistics Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 20). He shot a career-best 66 in the final round to secure the medalist honor.
Agnew collected seven birdies in his final round of the fall season. He birdied 11, 14, 16, 17, four, six and seven. He finished his day with three birdies over the last six holes to go 3-under in that stretch. While he competed as an individual, he was the first Mastodon to win an event since the spring of 2024. This is the ninth time a Mastodon won an event and the sixth unique winner.
Despite Agnew playing as an individual, the team still managed a 279-287-283-849, a top-five mark in program history. They took second in the nine-team field, topping all four other Horizon League schools in attendance.
Nick Bellush finished fourth thanks to a bogey-free round of 65 to wrap up the fall. He started with six pars in a row before a birdie on hole seven. After five more pars, he birdied 13 and eagled 14. A par on 15 precluded a birdie on 16 and two pars to finish the day. His 65 was the lowest of any player in the tournament, helping him shoot 207 for the event. This is Bellush's second top-five finish of the season and of his career. The 65 was also Bellush's career-low.
With a 72 in round three, Brock Reschly finished in seventh place with a 212. He was even on the back nine in round three thanks to birdies on holes 11 and 14. He finished the day with four pars in a row. This is Reschly's sixth top-10 of his career and second this season.
Justin Hicks was three shots back of Reschly at 215 and took his second top-10 of the fall. Hicks shot 74 on Tuesday with birdies on seven and 14, both par-5s. He also started the day with five pars in a row.
Brady Moore was one shot back of Hicks for 11th place, the best finish of his career. His 216 came by way of a 72 in round three. He birdied his opening hole, then put together a 2-under bogey-free back nine with birdies on 14 and 16.
Julian Dugan shot 76 in round three for a total of 226. He finished in 44th place. He had an even back nine with birdies on 10, 11 and 14.
Gavin Hare (217, T-15th), Caden Baker (228, T-46th) and Landon Smith (76, 59th) also played as individuals.
The Gateway Logistics Invitational concludes the fall season for the 'Dons. They will be back in February at the Palmas del Mar Collegiate in Puerto Rico.
