INDIANAPOLIS - Natalie Papa of the Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team was selected as the Horizon League Golfer of the Week on Thursday (March 19), the league announced.
Papa took third at the NKU Spring Fling last weekend, topping the other 19 Horizon League student-athletes in the field. Her 226 was good for her first top-five finish of the season and second of her career.
She turned in a 73-79-74-226 in the three-day event in Vero Beach, Florida. Papa's 73 in round one was a season-low, as was her three-day total of 226.
Purdue Fort Wayne is the only program to have two different Golfers of the Week this season. Emily Gottman picked up the honor on February 26.
This is Papa's first weekly award of her career. Papa and the Mastodons will be back in action on March 23-24 at the NKU Julie Invitational in Batavia, Ohio.
