Niecee Nelson was named the 14th head coach of the Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball team on April 18, 2016. She spent 11 years as an assistant coach at San Diego in the West Coast Conference after one year at Purdue Fort Wayne as an assistant coach in 2004-05. She began her coaching career at Wyoming, where she was a graduate assistant for two seasons (2002-04).
Nelson graduated from Concordia in Portland, Oregon in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in education with an emphasis in elementary education, with minors in business marketing and psychology. She earned a master's degree in kinesiology and health with an emphasis in health promotion from Wyoming in 2004.
Niecee has two children: son Sebastian and daughter Skylar. They reside in Fort Wayne.

• Sh'Toya Sanders averaged 1.9 blocks per game for her career, making her the program leader in that category
