David Skelton has been a part of the IPFW Athletic Department since its inception. "Doc" coached men's basketball from 1966-70. He was a faculty member of the faculty senate athletic advisory committee from 1970-79. He coached the first softball team in 1975. "Doc" returned to basketball, coaching the women's team from 1977-79. In 1979, Skelton was named Director of Athletics, a position he held until 1987. During his tenure, IPFW joined NCAA Division II and the Great Lakes Valley Conference. He has served as Compliance Officer, Fundraiser, and Academic Advisor.
