MOREHEAD, Ky. - Morehead State and Murray State both shot 10-over par scores of 298 and are tied for the lead after the first round of the 2004 Greg Palmer Eagle Classic being played April 12-13 at Eagle Trace Golf Course.
Rain forced postponement of the tournament's second round on Monday. The 12 teams and 11 individuals will play 18 holes beginning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. CDT on Tuesday, and the tournament will be shortened to 36 holes.
The competitors played in a steady drizzle with occasional showers and below-normal temperatures in the mid-40's on Monday. By the scheduled start of Monday's second round, the rain intensity had picked up, and the course became unplayable.
Jamie Frazier of Murray State led all golfers with a three-under par 69. Colin Christie of Butler was the only other golfer under par, firing a one-under par 71. Morehead State's Kyle Litter and Casey Wade and John Billiter of Western Illinois tied for third with two-over par 74 totals.
Following Morehead State and Murray State in the team standings were: Butler in third place at 311; Cleveland State and Western Illinois tied for fourth at 312; IUPUI in sixth at 313; Tennessee Tech and Detroit Mercy tied for seventh at 315; Longwood in ninth at 322; Youngstown State and Loyola (Ill.) tied for 10th at 324 and IPFW in 12th at 328.
