Bowling Green, OH-On Saturday morning, IPFW senior Ashley Ritchey's (Leo, IN/Leo) first place finish led IPFW to a third place team finish at the Falcon Invite, just behind Akron and Ball State.The two-time Independent Runner of the Week secured her second win of the year with a season-best time of 17:56.15 in the 5K distance.
Next to cross the finish line for IPFW were sophomore's Crystina Martinez (Valparaiso, IN/Wheeler) at 18:32.34 in 10th place and Crystal Martinez (Valparaiso,IN/Wheeler) in 15th at 18:39.85.
Following the Martinez twins was junior Valerie Hardesty (Auburn, IN/DeKalb) placing 36th at 19:15.98. IPFW freshman Mary Ballinger (Chesterton, IN/Chesterton) rounded out the 'Dons scoring effort finishing in 40th place.
The women's cross country team will take next weekend off before returning to action on October 28, 2006 for the All-Independent Championships. The All-Independent Championships will be held at IPFW.
