Fort Wayne, IN- The University at Buffalo got a late goal to hold off a game IPFW men's soccer team, in MAC action, Friday night at Hefner Stadium.
The Bulls' goal came in the 84th minute of play.
Junior forward Daniel Stevens dribbled his way past IPFW defenders, moving right to left, into the middle of the box. As a pair of Mastodons converged on the ball, Stevens sent a nice little pass to senior midfielder Brian Knapp. Knapp sent a shot to the far post and it found the back of the net. Knapp's shot ruined a nice performance by the Mastodons.
Junior goal keeper Michael Knitter made a number of fantastic saves in the match. Knitter turned back seven Buffalo shots.
It looked like IPFW might take the lead at the 8:02 mark of the first half off the foot of junior forward Chas Parry. Parry launched a shot from about 40 yards out that had UB keeper Daniel Bell beat, but it hit the crossbar.
Buffalo improves to 7-3-1 (1-0-0 MAC) on the year while IPFW falls to 0-10-0 (0-3-0 MAC).
The Mastodons return to action on Sunday night, hosting St. Joe College at 7pm.
