
IPFW Splits Day Two Action at UVSC

Orem, UT - The Mastodons fought a tough battle Saturday morning against Weber State at the Utah Valley State/LaQuinta Invitational in Orem, Utah. IPFW survived, winning in five, 3-2. IPFW could not hold off host Utah Valley State in the evening, falling, 3-1. Jessica Miller was named to the All-Tournament Team for IPFW.

The Mastodons dropped game one 24-30, before rallying and taking two and three by finals of 30-27 and 30-28. The Wildcats pushed hard in game four, taking it 33-31 to force a game five. Game five was tough with 10 ties and four lead changes, but IPFW pulled through 15-13.
Amanda Pfister and Jessica Miller each chipped in 19 kills in the win. Pfister recorded her second double-double of the season, adding 14 digs to her 19 kills.
Cynara Martins tossed in 18 kills and 21 digs for her fourth double-double of the year. Martins also led in blocks with six block assists.
Claire Jackson chipped away at the block assist record, adding six more this morning. Jessica Dominiak posted 59 assists, a personal best, while Peachy Jankowski led in digs with 23. Jankowski and Miller each scored three service aces for the match.
Weber State was led by Leah Burmeister and Kolbie Murphey with 17 kills each. Chelsea Bair was close behind, knocking down 16. Bair and Burmeister hit double-doubles, adding 18 and 11 digs respectively.
Kristi Lindley hit her double-double with 55 assists and 22 digs.
IPFW v. Utah Valley State
The Mastodons wrapped up their time in Utah facing host Utah Valley State in the final match of the evening. The Wolverines took the match 3-1 by finals of 25-30, 29-31, 30-25, and 18-30.
Five 'Dons finished in double figure kills, two with double-doubles. Pfister continued her dominance from the morning, recording 16 kills and 13 digs. Miller had 13 kills and two service aces.
Martins hit her double-double with 11 kills and 17 digs. Jackson and Rebekah Roehm each just hit the double digit mark with 10 kills.
Jackson scored on the block once again with four solos and five assists. She is now just seven block assists from the career record.
Jankowski was on the defense, digging up 29 balls, a personal best. Dominiak turned in 51 assists for the match.
The Wolverines were led by Camie Manwill with 23 kills and 20 digs. Lacee Koelliker added 54 assists for UVSC.
The Mastodons will now head to #19 Ohio State on Tuesday, September 12. The match starts at 7 pm.
IPFW's next home match is the IPFW Invitational on September 22-23. The 'Dons will host Robert Morris, North Florida, South Dakota State and Texas Pan American in the eight match invite.
