
'Dons Win Independent Championship

Fargo, ND - IPFW Women's Volleyball takes home their third Independent Championship in five years after defeating Utah Valley State in the championship match, 3-1. Rebekah Roehm was named Tournament MVP.
The Mastodons took off in game one, defeating the Wolverines, 30-24. In game two UVSC had the upper hand, defeating IPFW, 27-30.
IPFW fired back in game three, holding UVSC to under 20 points with a final of 30-17. Game four sealed the Wolverines fate as IPFW took the Independent Championship, 30-26.
IPFW was led by Rebekah Roehm, the Tournament MVP, with 13 kills. She also added one block solo and four block assists.
Cynara Martins was close behind Roehm with 12 kills. She posted a double-double, adding 13 digs.
Claire Jackson posted a double-double in kills and blocks. She knocked down 11 kills and had 10 total blocks, three solos and seven assists. Jackson hit at a .308 clip.
Jessica Miller was the last 'Don in double figure kills. She had 10 kills and posted the 'Dons highest hitting percentage with a .409. Miller added six block assists on the night.
On the defense, Peachy Jankowski once again reigned. Jankowski had 28 digs, leading all defense on the night. Nicole Howell also was a force on the defense, adding 13 digs and two service aces.
Jessica Dominiak posted 50 assists and five digs in the four set match. Jamie Schwartz had two service aces and nine digs while Amanda Pfister had six digs, a block solo and two block assists.
The Mastodons out-hit and out-blocked the Wolverines. IPFW hit at a .208 clip while UVSC was at .120. The 'Dons had 17 team blocks to Utah Valley State's ten.
For UVSC, Camie Manwill had 15 kills, she was followed by Jessica Endres with 13 and Terin Ledall with 11. Manwill and Endres also posted double-doubles with 18 and 13 digs respectively. Lacee Koelliker hit her double-double with 49 assists and 17 digs.
The Mastodons placed four ladies on the All-Tournament Team. Roehm was named Tournament MVP and Cynara Martins joined her on the All-Tournament Team.
The Mastodons wrapped up yet another 20 plus win season on Saturday night, finishing the season with a nine match win streak. IPFW finished 2006 with a 26-10 record and a 96-26 record over the past four years. The 'Dons broke one team record, and set two individual records in 2006 as well as Head Coach Kelley Hartley Hutton winning her 300th career match. IPFW will look to continue their dominance in the Mid-Continent Conference as they begin play in the fall of 2007.
