Cleveland, OH- Cleveland State junior defender Shayna Back scored twice in a span of 1:35 to push the Vikings past IPFW, 2-1 on Sunday night in Cleveland.
Back's tallies erased an IPFW 1-0 lead that had stood for nearly 52 minutes of the match.
The Mastodons got on the board early as senior Nicole Halls sent junior forward Anika Apar ahead on a breakaway. Apar beat CSU goalkeeper Ashley Kidwell at the 2:21 mark for her first goal of the year.
Back got her first score in the 55th minute off of a cross from the right corner from the foot of Amber Rasmussen.
Back's game-winner came in the Viking's next trip down the field.
Off of an IPFW foul, sophomore midfielder Lisa Conway toed up a free kick from about 40 yards out that Back was able to head past IPFW keeper Shannon Lynn.
Cleveland State rode out the clock from that point for their third win of the season.
With the loss, the Mastodons fall to 3-11-1.
IPFW will finish the regular season hosting future Mid-Con rival Southern Utah this Saturday at 1pm.
