Mount Pleasant, MI- The IPFW women's soccer team is still looking for a scoring punch at the beginning of the season. Today, the 'Dons fell to 0-2 on the season, getting blanked by Central Michigan, 3-0.
The day had a rather inauspicious start as IPFW scored an "own-goal" at the 7:20 mark giving the Chippewas (2-0-0) a 1-0 lead.
Senior forward Jacquie Lacek pushed the CMU lead to 2-0 with her second goal of the season, in the 27th minute. Her shot, from just inside the 18, was low and to the far side of IPFW goal keeper Shannon Lynn.
Lacek finished off the scoring with just under three minutes left in regulation. She parked a cross from senior forward Allison Heydorn from about six feet out.
The 'Dons, who have been outscored 8-1 in their first two contest, managed just one shot on goal in the match.
Lynn stopped eight Chippewa shots on net in the contest.
The Mastodons will return to action with a pair of home contests this week. On Thursday, IPFW hosts NJIT at 6pm. On Saturday the 'Dons open up United Soccer Conference action with a match against Utah Valley State at 7pm.
