Dayton, OH -Senior guard DaShaun Wood scored 24 points and Wright State caused 22 IPFW turnovers in the Raiders' 72-58 win, Tuesday night at the Ervin J. Nutter Center.
Wood, who has been a combined 22-22 in his last two games from the foul line, sank 12 from the charity stripe in tonight's contest.
Wood was quiet early on though, as the Raiders (8-6) opened up an early five-point lead on a 3-point basket from freshman Vaugh Duggins.
IPFW junior forward DeWitt Scott came off the bench to give the 'Dons some instant offense. After a pair of triples, the 'Dons had cut the WSU lead to just two at 19-17, with under eight minutes to play in the opening half.
From there, the Raiders went on a 14-6 run to end the half and grab a 35-23 lead.
Wright State would take its biggest lead in the second half at (55-38) on a basket by senior forward Drew Burleson, with 7:37 left.
IPFW made a final push. Triples from junior forward Zeljko Egeric and sophomore guard Jakari Johnson highlighted a 14-4 Mastodon run that made the score 59-52 with 3:33 remaining.
However, that's as close as IPFW would get the rest of the way.
The loss wasted a great offensive evening for DeWitt Scott. Scott hit on 5-8 attempts from behind the arc for a team-high 21 points. He was the only Mastodon in double-figures.
Junior forward Jaraun Burrows grabbed 10 rebounds for the 'Dons.
With their third consecutive loss, IPFW falls to 4-11 on the season.
The Mastodons begin a three-game homestand with a Thursday night contest against Anderson University. Tip-off at Memorial Coliseum is 7:00pm.
