Haire Leads IPFW to Fifth at Fall Classic

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW Mastodons wrapped up their home tournament in fifth place with an 851, a new low team score for 54 holes. The 'Dons broke multiple records at this year's tournament.
Detroit took the team title with a team sore of 832, twenty under par. Youngstown State was the runner-up with an 835.
Ross Beal of Youngstown State took the individual title with a 196, seventeen under par. Thomas Greene of Loyola-Chicago finished in second place with a 205, eight under par.
Beal and Greene also set a new competitive course record from the black tees at Deer Track. Each shot a 63, Beal on his third round and Greene on his second round.
Tyler Haire led IPFW, tied in 16th with a 213, Patrick Kelley was one stroke behind with a 214, tied for 20th.
Andy Campbell, Nathan Hoff and Hartley Mcleod each finished tied for 26th with a 216.
The Mastodons also broke or matched five individual and team records during the tournament.
Haire matched the previous low 18 record of 67 set by Nathan Hoff at last year's Fall Classic. Haire matched the record with his first round score.
Haire and Hoff also matched the low 36 record after day one. Hoff had set the record at last year's Fall Classic with a 139. After the first two rounds, Haire and Hoff each had a 139 and were tied for 13th.
Haire just missed the low 54 individual record with his 213, Hoff had a 212 at the 2005 IPFW Fall Classic.
As a team, the 'Dons broke all three team records for low 18, low 36 and low 54, each were set at the IPFW Fall Classic. In their first round IPFW shot a 277, breaking the record set last year of 283.
After 36 holes IPFW had a 559 which also shattered the previous record of 572 also set last year. The record for the low 54 was set in 2005 and was an 865. IPFW shot an 851 in this year's tournament, improving their low 54 by 14 strokes.
The Mastodons will now prepare for the APSU Intercollegiate on October 22nd and 23rd.
