Fort Wayne, IN - The Mastodons wrapped up the 2007 portion of their schedule with a home contest against St. Bonaventure. The Bonnies pulled ahead at the half, 39-33 and kept the 'Dons at bay for the game, 76-65.
IPFW's Natalie Roberts started the game off scoring two baskets for the 'Dons, matching the Bonnies, 4-4 at the 18:03 mark. The Bonnies went on to score the next four points to move ahead, 4-8. Chelsey Jackson tied the game up with her two lay-ups at the 15:23 mark.
The fourth tie of the half came just a minute later on a bucket by Johnna Lewis-Carlisle. A 7-0 run by St. Bonaventure would push them ahead for the next eight minutes as IPFW started to chip away at the lead. Lewis-Carlisle hit a three-pointer to cut the Bonnies lead to three at 3:47.
With just 53 seconds left in the first half, Jordan Zuppe cut the lead to three again, 33-36, but a three point play by the Bonnies would finish the half with a six point lead, 33-39.
St. Bonaventure would take their first double-digit lead at the 16:48 mark in the second half, 35-46. The Bonnies would take their largest lead of 18 points at the 13:45 mark, 37-55.
The Bonnies would continue to hold a double-digit lead, but the 'Dons continued to slowly cut away at the lead, cutting it to eight on a basket by Courtney Reed at 4:14. St. Bonaventure would again regain a double-digit lead and would take it to the end, 65-76.
IPFW was led by Lewis-Carlisle with 20 points. She was 7 of 19 from the field and 4 of 5 at the line. She almost had a double-double with nine boards. Lewis-Carlisle has broken the 20 point mark on six occasions this season.
Roberts hit a career high with 14 points today. She was 5 of 11 from the field and perfect at the line, 4-4. She added five boards and an assist.
Hannah Thieke matched Roberts on boards with five as both led the 'Dons defensively.
Zuppe and Jackson just missed double-digits with nine points each.
The Bonnies had three ladies in double-digit points, Dana Mitchell with 27, Katelyn Murray with 21 and Andrea Doneth with 13. Tiara Johnson led on defense with seven boards.
The Mastodons (4-7, 2-0 Summit) will have their next game next year as the head to the Dakotas for a pair of conference match-ups. IPFW will play South Dakota State on January 5th at 5 PM Central and North Dakota State on January 7th at 7 PM Central.
Their next home game is January 12th against Centenary College in a doubleheader at the Memorial Coliseum. Game time is 4 PM.
