Fort Wayne, IN - IPFW used 22 points from senior forward Jaraun Burrows to easily outdistance visiting North Florida, 82-59 on Saturday afternoon at the Hilliard Gates Sports Center.
IPFW let it be known early that they would not become the Ospreys second victim of the season. The Mastodons jumped out to a quick 12-point lead after a jumper by senior forward DeWitt Scott, a layup by junior guard Jakari Johnson, and a 3-pointer by Scott.
Burrows did most of the damage in the opening half, scoring 15 points by scoring inside and getting to the free-throw line after getting fouled. "Keno" was 7-8 from the charity stripe in the first half as well.
The Mastodons opened up their biggest lead of the opening session on a layup by Scott at the 8:27 mark making it, 30-7.
The 'Dons limited North Florida (1-10) to just 26.9% shooting and 19 points at the break.
In the second half, IPFW's lead never got under 21 points.
A triple by freshman guard Zach Plackemeier gave IPFW a 55-27 advantage, and the 'Dons put it on cruise-control the rest of the way.
Four Mastodons hit in double-digits, with Burrows' game-high 22 leading the way.
Freshman sniper Ben Botts connected on 4-8 triples to finish the afternoon with 16 points.
Senior point guard Demetrius Johnson added 11 points and six assists, while Scott finished with 10.
Junior guard Riley Cortez led the Osprey with 18 points.
The Mastodons (5-7) shot 43.6% in snapping a three-game losing streak.
The 'Dons will finish off the 2007 portion of the schedule on New Year's Eve, with a 2:00 p.m. contest at Ball State.
