
Volleyball Comeback Falls Short

Long Beach, CA - The No. 11 IPFW Mastodons spotted No. 10 Long Beach State a 2-0 lead, but a furious comeback just fell short as the 'Dons fell the the 49ers, 3-2 in the Active Ankle Classic at LBSU.
Long Beach State (10-9) won by the scores of 30-25, 30-24, 26-30, 26-30, and 15-12.
Junior outside hitter C.J. Macias led IPFW with 21 kills.
Junior opposite Brock Ullrich was a dig shy of a double-double with 13 kills and nine digs. He also has seven block assists and three service aces.
Junior middle hitter Graydon Ainsworth hit for double figures with 10 kills. He also chipped in eight block assists.
LBSU's Paul Lotman led all scorers with 27 kills. He added seven block assists on the defensive end.
The 49ers just edged the 'Dons in hitting at .219 to .212.
IPFW falls to 11-6 with the loss. They will face California Baptist in Saturday's opening match. Cal-Baptist topped Penn State 3-0 on Friday night.
