Des Moines, IA - The Drake University Bulldogs got the game's first goal just 2:45 into the match, and didn't look back, posting a 5-0 win over the 'Dons on Sunday afternoon in Iowa.
The Bulldogs (1-1-0) dominated play on their home pitch, cracking the scoreboard in the third minute of play. Off of a corner kick from freshman midfielder Matt Kuhn, sophomore middle Calvin Clark blasted a header past IPFW goal keeper Josh Howell.
Drake got a fluke goal in the 20th minute of play as Kuhn got a shot off in the box that deflected of an IPFW defender and found the back of the net.
The flood gates opened for the 'Dawgs in the second half. Drake tallied three times within a 10-minute time span to put the game out of reach.
IPFW was out-shot in the match 20-6.
Howell stopped five Bulldog shots on goal in the loss.
Drake keepers Phillip Breuer and Matt Maszaros each made a save for the Bulldogs.
With the loss, the Mastodons record fall to 1-1-0. They will return to action on Friday with a match at Valparaiso. Kick off is set for 6:00 p.m.
