
'Dons Down Lady Bison in Three

Fort Wayne, IN - The IPFW women's volleyball team ended day one of the IPFW Invitational 1-0 after defeating the Lipscomb Lady Bison 3-0 Friday night. The Cougars of Chicago State defeated the Lehigh Mountain Hawks 3-0 in the first match of the invitational.
IPFW defeated the Lady Bison, 30-14, 30-24, 30-26.
IPFW would start the match off right, taking an 8-4 lead early in the game. The ladies would continue to pull away, taking a 21-11 lead on a kill by Jessica Dominiak from Rebekah Roehm. From there the 'Dons took game one, 30-14.
Game two started off quite similar to game one, with IPFW up by eight at the 18-10 mark. A late rally by the Lady Bison would bring them to within four at the 28-24 mark. IPFW would take the next two points and game two, 30-24.
The Mastodons started off game three with a commanding 11-5 lead before Lipscomb tried to climb back into the game. A quick 3-1 run would bring the Lady Bison to within three, but IPFW would continue to pull away, taking an eight point lead at 21-13.
Lipscomb would fight back to within three again at the 27-24 mark before IPFW would take the game, 30-26, and the match, 3-0.
Jessica Miller led IPFW with 12 kills on 21 swings. She hit an impressive .524 against Lipscomb. Miller added three block assists.
Roehm was a kill behind Miller with 11 and a .364 hitting percentage. Roehm also was a force at the net with four block assists.
Dominiak and Shannon Reuter split time as the setter tonight. Dominiak had 20 assists and Reuter dished out 14.
Peachy Jankowski led IPFW on defense with 19 digs.
Lipscomb was led by Sarah Snider with 11 kills and Alex Scruggs with 10 kills. Stefine Pease had 27 assists and Ann Mullins had nine digs.
In the first match of the IPFW Invitational, Chicago State won their first match of the season, defeating Lehigh 3-0. The Cougars defeated the Mountain Hawks, 30-28, 20-18, 30-28.
IPFW (4-4) will face Chicago State tomorrow at 2 PM and Lehigh at 7 PM in the Gates Center. Lehigh and Lipscomb will start day two of the IPFW Invitational tomorrow at 12 noon.
