Fort Wayne, IN - No. 1 Brigham Young University survived 2,049 raucous fans, and a career-high 29 kills by IPFW senior opposite Jason Yhost in a tight, 3-1 win over No. 10 IPFW on Friday night at the Hilliard Gates Sports Center.
The Cougars stayed perfect on the season (3-0) with a 30-23, 32-30, 23-30, 30-26 win over the Mastodons.
BYU senior opposite Jonathan Charette got the Cougars rolling in the first set, with seven kills. The Cougars hit a blistering .469 to take the opening set by seven.

What looked like a kill, and a 29-28 game-point for the Mastodons was waived off because it was ruled that a BYU player could not make a play on the ball because of crowd interference.
The replay went to BYU as senior outside hitter Ivan Perez pounded a ball straight down to the floor, making it 29-28 BYU.
At 30-all, Perez put down another of his 22 kills to give the Cougars game point, which they converted on an IPFW hitting error.
In game three, Yhost put the 'Dons on his back and helped lead IPFW to a nine-point, 21-12 advantage.
Yhost hit .700 in the game with eight kills and a service ace as the 'Dons pulled closer in the match, 2-1.
The fourth set was a tight affair with seven ties, the last of those coming at 17-all.
From there, the Cougars pulled away for a 30-26 win and the match.
Yhost's 29 kills came on 45 swings. He high a team-high .533 with two aces. He also registered a double-double with 11 digs.
Senior outside hitter C.J. Macias was the only other 'Don in double-figures with 14 kills. Macias also had five total blocks (1 solo, 4 assists).
Four Cougars hit for double-digits, with Perez' 22 leading the way. Perez hit a match-high .588.
Charette put down 17 balls for BYU.
BYU outhit the Mastodons, .314 to .248.
