
Poor Second Half Leads to Defeat in Macomb

Macomb, IL - IPFW's modest two-game winning streak came to a screeching halt on Thursday night in Macomb, Illinois. The Mastodons' road woes continued with a, 65-50 loss to Western Illinois.
IPFW went stone-cold over the final 15-minutes, shooting just 29.2% in the second half. The 'Dons also committed 20 turnovers in the game.
Western Illinois (9-10, 4-4 Summit) outscored IPFW 37-24 from the 15:49 mark. At that point, IPFW held a 28-27 lead.
The Leathernecks also owned the glass, outrebounding IPFW, 38-28.
WIU registered four players in double-figure scoring with guards David Nurse and David Jackson each hitting for 13.
IPFW (7-12, 4-4 Summit) was led by freshman guard Ben Botts with 15 points. Botts only shot 3-pointers in the game, hitting on 4-9.
Senior forwards DeWitt Scott and Jaraun Burrows scored 14 and 13 points, respectively.
IPFW remains in a tie for third place in The Summit League with Oakland and Western Illinois.
The 'Dons will try to regroup and get back into the win column on Saturday night at second-place IUPUI. Tipoff in Indianapolis is 7:00 p.m.
