Women's Golf Begins Play at Austin Peay Intercollegiate

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - IPFW women's golf team looks to have a successful day-two round after a rough start to the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate hosted by Austin Peay State University.
The 'Dons as a team shot 340 on Monday, placing them in 15th only four strokes behind 14th University of Evansville (336). Murray State University currently leads the tournament with a team score of 310. Tennessee Tech (312), Arkansas State (314), Indiana State (316) and Belmont (320) round out the top five. The best individual 18-hole score was 71 carded by Lorie Warren of Belmont.
Junior Jillian Speece leads the way for the Mastodons after a round one 38-42, (80). Jillian also recorded a round-one high seven birdies on her way to being currently tied for 20th.
Also for the Mastodons are Alison Rathsman (tied for 35th) with a 40-42 (82), Abbey Waltke with a 43-43 (86), and Jacque Speece 43-49 (92).
Monday's tees were set for a par of 72 and a hefty 6,841 yards. Tuesday's final round is set to begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
