Mastodons Place Fifth in Butler Fall Invite

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The IPFW women's golf team placed fifth Monday and Tuesday in the Butler Fall Invitational behind the steady play of senior Alison Rathsman at the Eagle Creek Golf Club, Pines Course. The Invite featured nine teams playing in the 36 hole, par 72 course with the tees at 6,127 yards.
Rathsman placed third in the Invite with a strong second round score of 72 pacing her way to a two-day 152 (80-72).
Also helping the 'Dons to a fifth place finish were Jillian Speece 158 (78-80) and Jacque Speece 159 (81-78) who finished tied for 18th and tied for 22nd respectively while Abbey Waltke tied for 33rd with a 164 (80-84) and Nikki LeRose finished tied for 43rd with a 171 (86-85).
IPFW finished only seven strokes behind third place Chicago State and a three strokes behind fourth place Western Kentucky.
Taking first place team honors was host Butler University. Butler's Michele Nash took the individual title with a 148 (72-76). Low score for the tournament was shared by IPFW's Rathsman and Butler's Nash with 72 (par).
Next the Mastodons prepare for a trip to Clarksville, Tennessee for the F&M Bank Austin Peay Intercollegiate on October 20-21.
