
IPFW Defeated by No. 9 Ball State

Fort Wayne, IN-IPFW falls to 3-4 in conference play after being defeated by MIVA rival, Ball State, at the Gates Center on Friday night.
Ball State won by the finals scores of 30-26, 24-30, 30-19, and 30-27.
Senior outside Patrick Durbin led Ball State offensively, recording 19 kills in the match. Three other Cardinals, Matt McCarthy, Todd Chamberlain, and Marcus Imwalle, also hit in double figures.
Ball State was strong on the block as well, out-blocking the 'Dons 11-4. McCarthy led the way with 7 block assists, while sophomore Ethan Pheister chipped in a solo block and 3 block assists.
Both teams struggled to put the ball in play, recording a combined 33 service errors over four games.
For IPFW, senior opposite Jason Yhost recorded the lone double-double of the match with 17 kills and 14 digs.
Senior outside C.J. Macias led all players with a match-high 20 kills.
IPFW falls to 8-7, 3-4 MIVA.
The Mastodons will return to conference action tomorrow evening, hosting No. 11 Ohio State at the Gates Center. The first serve is at 7:00 PM.
