Mastodons Close Strong to take Ninth at Summit League Championships

MACOMB, Ill. - The Mastodons of IPFW used a third-round 308 to secure their ninth place finish at the 2008 Summit League Championships hosted by Western Illinois University at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course.
IPFW edged Centenary 932-to-936 for ninth place, and finished just 20 strokes from eighth place North Dakota State (912). Western Illinois won the tightly contested field with an 870, and was trailed by UMKC (880), Oral Roberts (885), Southern Utah (887), South Dakota State (889), Oakland (907) and IUPUI (909).
Leading the `Dons through the final day of the championships was Hartley Mcleod, who shot a 75, his best round of the weekend. Tyler Haire carded a 76, with Nathan Hoff and Patrick Kelley shooting a 78 and 79, each. Andy Campbell rounded out the IPFW golfers in the field with an 83.
Over the three rounds, Kelly was the team's top golfer, finishing with a three-round score of 230, and was trailed by McLeod (232), Hoff (237), Haire (241) and Campbell (243).
