Fort Wayne, IN - The IPFW baseball team took one on the chin in a mid-week non-conference game with Ball State on Tuesday. The Cardinals pounded out 17 hits in a, 24-6 rout of the Mastodons.
The Cardinals (18-9) scored four in the first, and six in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings.
BSU left fielder Kory Benbow drove in seven of the Cardinal runs, including a grand slam in the 7th inning.  He also scored four runs.
Cardinal center fielder Wayne Bond, Jr. was 3-3 with three runs batted in.
IPFW pounded out 14 hits of their own, but BSU took advantage of 10 walks.
Senior center fielder Jared Davis was 4-5, including his second home run on the season.  Davis' recent hitting surge has taken his average back over the .300 mark.
Catcher Devin Taylor, first baseman Shaun VanDriessche, right fielder Garrett Segraves, and second baseman Scott Micinski each had two hits in the contest.
With the loss, IPFW falls to 6-18-1.  They return to Summit League play at Western Illinois this weekend.
