Bowling Green, OH - For the second straight meet, IPFW sophomore Randall Quirk clocked the top time for IPFW. Quirk and the Mastodons competed this past weekend at the Mel Brodt Invitational, hosted by Bowling Green State University.
In windy, wet conditions, Quirk covered the 8K course in a time of 28:37.54. That time placed him 23rd overall in the event.
A number of Quirk's teammates were close behind. Senior Wes Kuhn clocked in at 29:28.65 (27th). Sophomore Ryan Perry crossed the line in 30th (29:46.18), while freshman D.J. Sloan (30:21.21, 35th) and sophomore Steve Zimmerman (30:35.81, 36th) rounded out the top-five for the Mastodons.
IPFW finished 6th in the six team event, but continued to make strides towards the end-of-season Summit League Cross Country tournament. The 'Dons finished just eight points behind Niagara in the meet.
The Mastodons will now be off until October 3, when they will take part in the Notre Dame Invitational.
