
Falcon's Defense Shuts Down 'Dons

Bowling Green, Ohio -- IPFW (0-5-1) fell to Falcon Invitational host Bowling Green State University (3-3-0) Friday Afternoon 2-0. The Mastodons were unable to execute a shot-on-goal and took only seven shots in the match.
Jorge Ramirez and Chris Dolinski both took two shots for IPFW, while Liridon Qafleshi, Colin Helmrich and Max Touloute all took one.
The match was scoreless well into the second period until Bowling Green's Jacob Lawrence netted a shot in the 81st minute to break the tie. IPFW's Ramirez then took a shot for the Mastodons that strayed wide. Then in the 87th minute the Falcons' Thomas McLean scored a goal that closed the door on IPFW.
Lawrence was the match's most offensive player taking three shots and scoring a goal on one shot-on-goal. Also playing well for BGSU was Hunter Van Houten with two shots and two shots-on-goal.
Bowling Green also had seven corner kicks to IPFW's two.
IPFW's Michael Knitter completed five saves in the contest to two goals-against.
The Mastodons next play tomorrow, September 20, against Saint Francis (PA) in the second day of the Falcon Invite. First kick is set for 2 p.m.
