Mastodons Fall to Jackrabbits

Fort Wayne, IN- The IPFW women’s soccer team was defeated by South Dakota State 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Hefner Field in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The loss puts the Mastodons at 0-9-1(0-1-1) on the season.
South Dakota State scored the only goal of the game in the 49th minute from Erin Kasmarik, who headed the ball in the goal after receiving a cross pass from Vanessa Paswaters. The lone goal would be enough for a Jackrabbit victory.
The Mastodons played hard the entire afternoon, but the Jack Rabbits were too tough offensively. The ‘Dons were outshot by the Jack Rabbits 15-3, and 7-2 in shots on goal. Both teams committed 14 fouls in the match.
IPFW received shots on goal from freshmen Tara O’ Toole and Brittany Climmons. Goalkeeper Meagan McLaughlin had six saves on the afternoon, and now has 36 saves on the year.
Next up for IPFW is a home match against in-state foe IUPUI this Friday, October 3 at Hefner Field. Match time is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
