Tulsa, OK - IPFW suffered through one of their coldest shooting nights of the season in a 73-46 loss at Oral Roberts on Thursday night at the Mabee Center.
The Mastodons managed only 26.9% from the floor, while Oral Roberts found the comfort of home rims, hitting on 49.2% from the field.
Both teams started off slowly in the contest. IPFW took an early one-point lead on a Ben Botts medium-range jumper.
For the next two minutes, neither team managed a bucket. That drought was broken by ORU forward Kevin Ford with one of his four dunks in the game.
From that point, Oral Roberts went on a 24-5 run to take a commanding lead. The Golden Eagles raced out to an 18-point, 37-19 half time score.
In the second half, IPFW was only able to close to within 17, that on another Botts jumper.
Back-to-back dunks by Ford staked ORU to a 65-38 lead and they won going away, 73-46.
Botts led IPFW in scoring with eight points.
Oral Roberts (5-11, 3-1) was led by Marcus Lewis with 14. Ford posted a 12 point, 11 rebound double-double.
With the loss, the 'Dons fall to 6-10, 1-4 in Summit League play.
The Mastodons return to action on Saturday afternoon at Centenary College. Game time is set for 3:30pm.
