Conway, AR - After rebounding from a stand-still first half that saw the 'Dons without a shot in the period, the IPFW offense could not convert on 11 second half tries, falling to Central Arkansas 1-0.
As has been the signature for the 'Dons on the year, the defense pitched yet another first half shut-out, their eighth in 12 matches. Despite the impressive defensive performance, the offense struggled to find its form. Nineteen players saw action in the IPFW line-up in the opening period, but the Mastodons could not manage a single shot in the half.
The offensive tables turned in the second half, as the 'Dons controlled the tempo for the final period of play. The Mastodon offense took all 11 of its shots in the half, but were unable to capitalize.
In the 61st minute, the Bears broke the scoreless tie. In what would end up their only shot of the period, Bears freshman forward took a feed from teammate Michael Moritz and converted on his first collegiate goal, giving his squad the eventual game-winner.
Max Touloute managed to fire three shots to lead the offense while Donovan Dowling totaled one save on the day.
The non-conference loss moves the Mastodons to 3-8-1 on the year. They will return to action next Saturday (Oct. 10) as they travel to Oakland for a 1:00 p.m. Summit League matchup.
