'Dons Close Butler Fall Invite in 13th Place

INDIANAPOLIS - Battling wet conditions throughout round two action, the 'Dons lineup posted a 696 team total, placing them 13th in the 2009 Butler Fall Invitational, held at Eagle Creek Golf Course in Indianapolis.
Senior Nikki LeRose fell ten strokes from yesterday's 79, posting an 89 and 36-hole score of 168 for a share of 51st place. Freshman Alyssa Turney followed LeRose as her 87 gave her a two-day total of 173 and share of 66th place.
Fellow freshmen Breanna Hatter and Jillian Joyce tied for a share of 73rd place as Hatter's 91 and Joyce's 93 rounded their two-day tallies at an even 180.
Tosha Embry carded a 97 in second round action to close out the Mastodon line-up one stroke behind Hatter and Joyce with a 181.
Junior Amy Funk improved 11 strokes from day one, posting a 95 today to round her tournament total to 201 in individual play.
Angela Gauck of Marian College won medalist honors, posting a 70 to close her two-round total at 140. Eastern Illinois captured the team title.
"The rain and the water on the greens made it pretty tough today," said head coach Jessica Steward. "But our strong first round is a true testament to this team's potential. We're all looking forward to Austin Peay."
The 'Dons will close the Fall portion of the schedule in Clarksville, TN at the APSU Intercollegiate on Oct. 19 and 20.
